Little Girl

I have always thought that my father is the best man in the world. He is passionate, adventurous, and a perfect Baba for his little girl. He grew up not knowing what a father should be, not know how to act, talk, or represent one. He is my rock and I can't live without him.

Knowing this and looking up to him everyday of my life, I expected my brother to grow up to be the same. This kid, yes he is still a kid, is so different. He is easy going, funny, and quiet. Don't get me wrong he is just as passionate and adventurous as my father. But he is amazingly complex. He seems simple but then he surprises you with mature and reasonable composure.

Seeing these two men, and having them as examples, I didn't expect the man that would be my husband to be anything like them. They are my family and as much as I love every part of them, we are a family that Allah made, and we have our differences. It's just like my brother and I will never see eye to eye, but I trust him with judging other people, because he has a keen eye at seeing a persons character for who they are and not judging a book by its cover. My father is strict and maintains a proper desi environment for a girl, but I am not afraid to opt out of a plan because he said no. If this is how he protects me and the other one, then so be it.

One advice that I have always gotten is that: Family is what Allah SWT gives you, every other relationship you pick for yourself, and it may not be perfect 90% of the time, people come and go and family is there no matter what. They are blood, and that is life.

There is a loop-hole in that advice. He didn't know that the person you spend the other 3/4th of your life with is actually a match made by Allah SWT as well. So when I expected this random man to come into my life, I thought I would really have to make it work. I would have to figure out his dislikes and likes, his mannerisms, and his habits. That he would change for me and I would for him. It was expectations that I held onto and believed.

Oh wow, was I a bit misguided, by my own predestined thoughts, but wow. He is like a mix of both my Father and Brother. How does that happen? On top of that he is his own person, an individual that amazes me. He is kind, loving, sweet, loud, funny, smart, and just perfect. When people used to tell me that when it happens you will just know, I imagined sparks flying and a Hollywood style exit. Only to find that the feeling is the same but it looks a lot simpler than anything extravagant.

I fully believe that this is perfect. It may not be to someone other than me and that's fine. I am excited and ready to figure out where we lead our lives. One may say that I am completing half of my deen, others may say I found my soul mate, but I know I have found a future. The future looks more or less like today, but bigger and clearer. It actually looks pretty amazing. Alhumdulillah.

5

5. Five. Paanch.

That is the magic number for the next couple days. Today I am five months away from the moment my life changes forever. Five months from today I will party until I basically have to go home and spend a few last moments as a girl. Its so bittersweet. Tomorrow, five months from now, I will be preparing to sign my name on a piece of paper that will entitle me to live my life as a KAMAL. No, not in the literal sense, however, I am amazing. I will be legally and islamically married to a man that I only met over a year ago. Someone I befriended in a couple weeks. Someone who by now is my best friend, the one I laugh with, cry with, and love every moment for. Its so magical just knowing that last year, I had different plans. I had a mission which was over taken by someone I never imagined to enter my life.
This man is so subtle and easy to be around. He easily molds into any environment. He is hilariously funny, dubbed by himself of course! He is kind, warm, caring, and most importantly loving. He has temper that flairs too high, and too fast. He is fast and honest with his words. He is interesting and smart. I can keep going. I will keep going for as long as I can, because I never imagined such bliss from a person that the world doesn't consider perfect, but I do. I am always trying to find new words to explain this feeling this blessed and wonderful feeling, but even now, with so many words, I am short. All I have is, Alhumdulillah, Inshallah, & Subhanallah. That praise to Allah SWT is the best way to thank the one and only for the perfection he has given me.

Never thought it would happen

I haven't written in a while and I'm sure I have a few drafts that need attention. Those drafts however may just remain drafts. I will tell you general random public, that I am uber excited with what is to come my way in the next few days. I have waited for many things like graduation - which is this May! - for birthdays, anniversaries, job interviews, and many more. I have written about almost all of them, but the one I haven't written about the one I never saw coming is now here and there is no string of words left in my mouth for what I feel. I am stressed beyond limits because of it and because of the ten million other things on my plate. Alhumdulillah thought I couldn't be happier. <3

Everything will be Alright

"He’s not perfect. You aren’t either, and the two of you will never be perfect. But if he can make you laugh at least once, causes you to think twice, and if he admits to being human and making mistakes, hold onto him and give him the most you can. He isn’t going to quote poetry, he’s not thinking about you every moment, but he will give you a part of him that he knows you could break. Don’t hurt him, don’t change him, and don’t expect for more than he can give. Don’t analyze. Smile when he makes you happy, yell when he makes you mad, and miss him when he’s not there. Love hard when there is love to be had. Because perfect guys don’t exist, but there’s always one guy that is perfect for you."

The 365 Thing: Day 58

Day 58: Look around you and tell me what you see? If you are on the same page as me then you have a laptop, mobile device, computer, TV, etc. from which you are able to view this. If you are on the same page as me, you have a roof over your head and food in your stomach. If you are able to view this you have more than what he has. Clean water flowing from your tap. Ten different, exotic foods in your refrigerator. You have clothes on your back.
This boy drinks from what seems like a flowing river with muddy water. If you were in his place, if you had everything you have now and were in his place what would you do? How would you ask for clean water? How would you fix this situation? This boy and thousands, millions of others in this world are waiting. They are waiting for you to help make a difference.
The world we live in is the polar opposite of theirs. The scorching sun makes you want to rip your skin apart. The cold nights makes you want to roll up under ten blankets. He has no air conditioned room to run into to feel relief. He doesn’t have anything but the scrap of cloth that covers the important parts of his body. At the moment he may not even have a roof over his head, not even one made out of straw.
This photograph is one of many. This picture depicts a simple need for humans to have sustenance. This image is not nearly as heart wrenching as it could be. However, this is one boy, and this should be enough for you to start making a difference.
Alhumdulillah if you are able to read this then you have every blessing from Allah SWT. If you are able to look at this picture and not feel as if your heart is going to stop then you are ungrateful for what life has given you. Remember to thank Allah SWT for what you have, and pray that he gives all of us the aid we need to help those who are less fortunate. Ameen.
If you would like to help provide for those in need please find a charity that whole heartedly donates to the world without taking a penny from your donations. Yes, they are hard to find but they exist. Find a cause to donate your time to, because that will make you fully understand what it like for those that don’t meet the needs you hold. Organizations such as Habitat for Humanity are great for hands on experience in building homes for those who can’t afford one.
If you would like to help feed, provide for, or help fund clothing for the world contact your local clothing and food drives. If you would like to donate for education, please inbox me or email me at Tooba@me.com.
Also, please donate to your local Masjids, whether it’s a penny, a dollar, or $1000, it goes a long way!

If I love you, what business is it of yours?

My dear,
If I love you, what business is it of yours?
If I cherish you, hold you dear to my heart, and cannot live without you, what could possible make me tell you so? My love for you is my business, and your love for me is your business.
We love each other, that’s all that matters.
Falsely yours,

A New Chapter?

I have got to say that this year has been full of surprises and full days and nights, Alhumdulillah. Since January 1st 2011, I have been on vacation ( what you have to know is that vacations with my family mean going to every place you can in the area your in, no bathroom breaks (we went from LV, to LA, to SD, to SF, to Yosemite, back to SF) ) . After getting back from the west coast I was rushing around preparing for Spring 2011. I decided 5 classes weren't enough and went for 6, those of you who look at credits I had a whole 18 on my plate. After fighting, crying, and drying up every ounce of blood and sweat, I made it through, only for a weeks worth of a break where I caught up with work, errands, went to ICNA ( see post below ), and a little to no sleep. A week after the end of Spring 2011, I started two classes for Summer 1. A week after that it was up to three classes, two for  Summer 1 and one for Summer 2. Let me just remind you that summer courses are only a month long! I decided books were for losers, and I didn't have the funds, so I went in without, and wow, it was hard without books. I spent every waking moment on those classes. I would go to sleep with the laptop and wake up with it. Alhumdulillah I did fine. After the first two ended I moved onto my third and fourth.

You didn't see that coming huh? Yes I started a fourth class for Summer 3. ( ps I also went on vacation with my family again somewhere in between that time ) Fourth of July came and went, but I was still under tremendous amount of work. With all of that I also had to deal with a ton of other stuff. ( it was very serious, important, and stressful ) Near the end of July, Summer 2 ended, and a week after that Summer 3 went with it. That leaves the weekend of my birthday/ the start of Ramadan. I went to the Hot Air Balloon Festival, which was fun. My birthday was good, nothing special. I had an amazing time with my mom, and got the best birthday present ever! Alhumdulillah, I can't complain!

Now, Ramadan, Alhumdulillah, Alhumdulillah, Alhumdulillah it was amazing! I could not have asked for a better month. ( See Post Below ) I was determined to make every tarawih prayer, and Alhumdulillah I almost did. I feel fresh and clean. My soul feels like it has been swinging in a garden worry- free. I also spent every night of the last ten night staying up praying for Laylat ul Qadr. I know it sounds as if I have gone through this month and come out refreshed from my stressful year of study, but that is not true in this case. Yes I feel more alive, but I am thoroughly exhausted. I have bags under my eyes, I am breaking out from every inch on my face. I have went to two funerals in the past week and a half, and been stressed about many other things. Work has been tough since my boss relies on me too much, and now I just want a massage and some sleep. Again, no complains. But the end is not nearly here.

This week, well today I finish my last day of fasting and Celebrate Eid - ul - Fitr tomorrow, Inshallah, with the other half of the world who is not Celebrating today. After tomorrow, I start classes, attend my cousins mehndi ceremony, and her wedding the day after, and her reception the day after that. Hello, labor day weekend NOT! After the wedding I have to spend time with family, and then prepare for this NEW CHAPTER in my life. Tuesday, I start my new job, Alhumdulillah, and classes at a NEW school. I am completely freaking out and everything, like it has the rest of this year, is moving too fast. I need to get a grip on something.

Take a deep breathe.

Okay, I am fine. I am going to get through this like I have gone through everything, with a calm mind and Allah SWT on my side I can't go wrong. I have complete faith in myself, Allah SWT wouldn't have put me in this position or gotten me this far if I couldn't handle it on my own. Alhumdullilah, Mashallah, and Inshallah, please make du'a that pray that I succeed in all of my endeavors! I am ready to face this new chapter with open arms! (I'll keep you posted! )

Does anyone else smell the butterscotch?

PS Did I mention that I am still trying to graduate in August ( the month ends tom ), that is a whole other story!

-T

I also would like to give my condolences to those who were affected by Hurricane Irene this week. Many families and home are still flooded and without power and water. I hope all of you are safe. Please feel free to ask me if you need any help with anything! <3 Inshallah you will get through this!

Ramadan

It's all over. Caput. Gone. Finished. Good bye. Today may just be the last day of Ramadan. Today may be last Ramadan for you. Spending everyday at the masjid was a blessing. Coming closer to Islam and Allah SWT was the best thing about Ramadan. Alhumdulillah, Inshallah all of our hard work and du'a s will be granted. My last du'a is for us to see a month like this once again, maybe even a better one. I hope that all of your du'a are granted and I hope that you make the best of the time you have until the next Ramadan.

Alhumdulillah! Subhanallah! Mashallah! This Ramadan has been the best by far. I feel as if I have fallen in love. The love I feel for my religion and for Allah SWT is overpowering every decision I have made this month.

I went into this holy month thinking I was going to sleep, fast, and pray. Alhumdulillah I am so blessed to be living in this community where religion is so important. From the first fast I have attended almost every tarawih prayer, met new people, and fallen completely in love with my religion, more than I was before this. My friends are asking me if I am okay and why I haven't texted them or talked to them. Girls, I am sorry but my whole day is litterally spent at the Masjid, either teaching the kids at Summer Camp about Ramadan, or praying, or Tarawih. The weekends are spent at work and then rushing out to go for Jumm'a, or to go help prepare Iftar.

Now that it's the last ten days I have been at the masjid through out the night. Inshallah Allah SWT grants all of my du'a.

Mashallah, Br. Imran has such a beautiful voice, his recitation during Qayamu 'Layl and jumm'a is breathtaking. We have also learned so much from him alhumdulillah. He has sat down with the sisters many times during these last ten days to answer our questions and qualms. A few du'a s and things he has told us are listed below:

Allahuma irda anee (oh Allah be pleased me)

Allahuma rraddiyna (please us) warda Agnna (and be pleased with us)

Allahuma innaka afuwun karimun tuhibu al afwa fafu Anna ya Karim ( oh Allah you are the generous pardoner and you love pardoning so pardon us oh generous one)

For calamity, bad weather, or azhab:

Allahumma innee as'aluka khayraha wa khayri ma khuliqat leh, wa a3oothu bika min sharriha wa sharri ma khuliqat leh

Oh Allah! I ask you the best of it and the best it was created for, and I seek refuge in you from the worst of it and the worst it was created for.

Allahumma 7awaalayna laa 3alayna

Oh Allah around us and not upon us

Rabbana kshif 3annal 3athaaba inna mu'minoon

Oh Allah (SWT) relieve us of punishment indeed we are believers.

I hope that we can all benefit from each other when it comes to learning about Islam. Inshallah.

Here are a few more duas I pulled off of the UCONN MSA  website:

The Prophet (saw) said "Whomsoever stands in prayer on Laylatul Qadr with sincere faith and seeking reward from Allah, all of his past sins (minor) will be forgiven." As we enter the final 10 nights of Ramadan, let us be strive to attain Allah's mercy, forgiveness, and be freed from the hell fire.

Translation: O Allah make Iman beloved to us and beautify it in our hearts, and make us hate Disbelief, immorality, and Sinning and Make us amongst those who are rightly guided.

Ramadan Dua Day 11

 E-mail | Print | PDF
Dua for the day:

Dua: رَّبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا

Transliteration: rabbi irhamhuma kama rabbayanee sagheera
Translation: My Lord, have mercy upon them (parents) as they brought me up [when I was] small.

I'm ashamed to have put this Dua up so late. Our parents deserve our Dua over and over again. Without them where would we be today? Allah (swt) in many places in the Quran says "Worship Allah without any partners AND treat your parents nicely" and "Thank me and your parents".

How important are the parents that Allah (swt) pairs his rights along with your parents??

May Allah have mercy on our Parents.

Ramadan Dua Day 10

 E-mail | Print | PDF
Dua of the day:

رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَا أَنْفُسَنَا وَإِنْ لَمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْخَاسِرِينَ

Transliteration: rabbanaa Dhalamnaa anfusanaa wa illam taghfir lanaa wa-tarhamnaa lanakunanna min al-khaasiren

"Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers."

Surah Al-Araaf Verse 23

Ramadan Dua Day 9

 E-mail | Print | PDF
Dua for the Day:

رَبِّ إِنِّي لِمَا أَنزَلْتَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍ فَقِيرٌ

Transliteration: rabbi innee lima anzalta ilayya min khayrin faqeer
Translation: "My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need."

This dua is taken from Surah Al-Qasas where Musa supplicates to Allah after he helps out the two women from Al-Madyan. We see that after helping the two women Musa asked Allah (Subhanahu wa ta'ala) for a reward and not from them.

Hence, Rewards are only gained by doing them for the sole pleasure of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. Otherwise there is no reward. May Allah make our intentions pure and make us fast, pray, and any other worship in Ramadan with a true belief and seeking Reward from Allah only.

Dua is from Surah Al Qasas 28:24

Ramadan Dua Day 8

 E-mail | Print | PDF
Dua for the Day:

اللهم اعتق رقابنا من النار

Transliteration: Allahumma a'tiq riqabana min al naar
Translation: Oh Allah free our necks from the Fire

This dua should be recited every night/day/moment in Ramadan. This is because it is found in many hadith that Allah (swt) frees souls from the Hell Fire every night during Ramadan. In a specific hadith, it is noted Allah frees the souls at the time of iftaar. Classed Hasan by Suyooti and Albani.

Ramadan Dua Day 7

 E-mail | Print | PDF
Dua for the day:

اللهم إني أسألك لذة النظر إلى وجهك الكريم

Transliteration: Allahumma inni as'aluka laddhat an-nadhr ila wajhika al-kareem

Translation: Oh God, I ask you the joy of looking at your blessed face

The greatest blessing in the afterlife is not to enter Jannah. The greatest blessing is to be amongst those who are privileged to see Allah's blessed face. May Allah make us amongst those who see his blessed Face on that day.

The prophet (saws) said this dua in part of a bigger dua as narrated in many books of Hadith and it is authentic.

Check out this video that focuses on the sole topic of the day when the people in Jannah will see the Face of their Lord.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1fYGEDbEtA&feature=player_embedded

Ramadan Dua Day 6
Dua for the day:

رَبَّنَا آتِنَا فِي الدُّنْيَا حَسَنَةً وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ

Transliteration: Rabbana aatina fiddunya hasanatin wa fil akhirati hasanatan wa qina adhaab an-naar

Translation: Our Lord, give us in this world [that which is] good and in the Hereafter [that which is] good and protect us from the punishment of the Fire."

Allah mentions this dua during the verses of Hajj, and he says those who look forward to the Hereafter ask with this dua. However, those who only seek benefit in this world don't ask for anything in the hereafter and ask only for the worldly good. So this Ramadan, lets be the ones who gain something in the hereafter, lets say being saved from the hell fire. Allah frees souls every night in Ramadan. Lets make sure that our names are called and saved this Ramadan.

Ramadan Dua Day 5
Dua for today:

اللهُم إنى أعوذ برضاك من سخطك، وبمعافاتك من عقوبتك، وأعوذ بك منك لا أًحصى ثناء عليك، أنت كما أثنيت على نفسك

Transliteration: Allahumma inni a'udhubi ridhaaka min sakhatik wa be mu'aafaatika min 'uqbatik, wa a'udhubika minka la uhsi thanaa an 'alayka anta kama athnayta 'ala nafsak

Ramadan Dua Day 3
In a hadith recorded by Imam Baihaqi and classed Saheeh by Shaikh Albaani, "Three prayers are not rejected: the prayer of a father, the prayer of a fasting person, and the prayer of a traveler." So today's dua is the dua when breaking your fast.

اللَّهُمَّ اِنِّى لَكَ صُمْتُ وَبِكَ امنْتُ وَعَلَى رِزْقِكَ اَفْطَرْتُ

(Allaahumma Laka Sumtu wa bika aamantu Wa 'Ala Rizqika Aftartu.)

"Oh, Allaah! For Your sake I have fasted and with Your sustenance I have broken my fast."

The dua is taken from Abu Dawood Chapter Book of fasting.

Also, in another narration it is known that the dua is also accepted at the time of breaking the fast. So we should make dua at that time not only for ourselves but also mankind as a whole also.

For more info on times when Dua is accepted look here:
http://www.islamawareness.net/Dua/best.html

Ramadan Dua Day 2
The Supplication of Dhun Nun (Prophet Yunus) in the belly of the whale:

لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنتَ سُبۡحَـٰنَكَ إِنِّى ڪُنتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِين

Transliteration: Laa ilaaha illa anta, subhanaka inni kuntu min al-dhalimeen
Translation: There is no lord except you, I have been amongst the wrong doers.

This dua has many merits attached to it and is found in many hadith. The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) said:

"The invocation of my brother Dha-n-Nun, "None has the right to be worshipped save You; glory be to You, far
removed are You from any imperfection; I have been amongst the wrong-doers," none who is experiencing difficulty employs it except that Allah would relieve him of his difficulty."

Shaikh al Islam Ibn Taymiyyah wrote a whole book on the explanation of this dua.
Book: http://www.kalamullah.com/Books/The%20Relief%20From%20Distress.pdf

The first Dua I am going to post, is among one of the first dua's to be found when you open the Quran. It was first said by Ibrahim (a.s) when he and his son finished building the Kaa'bah. He said:

رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ السَّمِيعُ العَلِيمُ

Transliteration: Rabbanā Taqabbal Minnā ‘Innaka ‘Anta As-Samī`u Al-`Alīm
Translation: Our Lord! Accept this from us: You are the All-Hearing, the All-knowing

We can put this in practice on a daily basis after any deed we have done for Allah (swt). This reaffirms us that we did it for his sake and also shows that no matter how many good deeds we do, if Allah doesn't accept them then they are useless.

So I ask Allah to accept this from us!

Many dua's that have been mentioned here you can find something common amongst them. You can see that there is a need by the one who is asking, and there is an admittance that "Yes, I am wrong" or "I shouldn't have done that". Hence, there is no playing games with Allah. He knows what you have done. A true repentance requires acceptance on the sinners part to know he has wronged himself.

This also a list of some duas that you can recite everyday!

Last but not least and a little late, a Ramadan checklist for next year!

Ramadan Checklist

PDF
A Checklist for Ramadan

1. Ask Allah to enable you to reach Ramadan and to get the most out of it as the Salaf (early generation of pious people) used to do.

2. Intend to fast every day with Iman and pure intention seeking the reward from Allah alone. The Prophet peace be upon him said, "Whoever fasts in Ramadan with Iman and seeking reward (from Allah) his past sins will be forgiven". (Bukhari)

3. Read the whole Qur'an at least once as the Prophet peace be upon him did.

4. Have Suhoor as the Prophet peace be upon him said, "Have Suhoor because it is blessed".

5. Make Du'a during the fast because the Prophet peace be upon him said that three people's supplication is not rejected one of them is the fasting person. Ask for the good of this life and the next for yourself, your family and Muslims in general.

6. Make Dua before opening the fast. The Prophet peace be upon him said, "The fasting person has a supplication that is answered when he opens his fast".

7. Give Sadaqah and be good to people. The Prophet peace be upon him was the most generous of people and he was most generous in Ramadan.

8. Avoid anything that diminishes the fast such as, lying, backbiting, cheating, getting angry. The Prophet peace be upon him said "Whoever does not give up false statements (i.e. telling lies), and evil deeds, and speaking bad words to others, Allah is not in need of his (fasting) leaving his food and drink." [Bukhari]

9. Do not eat too much after Iftar.

10. Ask for forgiveness since this is the month Allah frees people from the fire.

11. Pray At-Tarawih with Khushoo. If you pray in the Masjid complete the Salah with the Imam. If you pray at home prolong the Salah as long as you can. The Prophet peace be upon him said, "Whoever prays during Ramadan with Iman and seeking reward (from Allah) his past sins will be forgiven".

12. Feed the poor and invite others for Iftar. The Prophet peace be upon him said, "Whoever gives Iftar to someone fasting he will have the same reward without decreasing the reward of the person fasting".

13. Try harder the last ten nights especially the odd nights. The prophet would strive in Ramadan more than he would in any other month and more so in the last ten days.

14. Say this Dua in the nights that Laitul-Qadr is likely to fall on: Allhumma innaka afuwun tuhibbul-afwa fa'fu anni (O Allah you are Forgiving and love forgiveness so forgive me).

15. Ask Allah to accept all your good actions during this month.

"Oh you who believe, what is the matter with you that when you are asked to march forward in the cause of Allah you cling heavily to the earth. Are you pleased with the life of this world rather than the Hereafter but little is the enjoyment of the life of this world as compared with the Hereafter."
-Al Quran 9.3

Another checklist

1. Make a resolve to win the maximum favour of Allah: perform extra voluntary prayers (Nawaafil), make frequent Du'a and increase remembrance (Dhikr).

2. Try to recite some Qu'ran after every Prayer. In fact if you read 3-4 pages after every Prayer you can easily finish the entire Quran in Ramadan! Study the Quranic Tafseer (commentary) every morning.

3. Invite a person you are not very close with to your home for Iftar, at least once a week. You will notice the blessings in your relationships!

4. Bring life to your family! Everyday, try to conclude the fast with your family and spend some quality time together to understand each other better.

I hope this finds you well!

Laylat - ul - Qadr

We have now embarked on the last ten nights of Ramadan. The Prophet sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam used to exert himself in devotion during the last ten nights to a greater extent than at any other time.

Laylat al Qadr (the Night of Power) is described in the Qur’an as, {better than a thousand months}. [Surah Al-Qadr: 3] The Prophet sallallahu `alayhi wa sallam said: "Whoever prays during the night of Qadr with faith and hoping for its reward will have all of his previous sins forgiven." [Sahih al-Bukhaari and Sahih Muslim on the authority of Abu Hurairah].

May Allah forgive our sins and free us from the penalty of the fire, Ameen.

Qadr means honor and dignity. Laylat al Qadr means the night of honor and dignity. It is this night in which the first Divine Revelation came to the Prophet sallalahu alayhi wasallam, when he was in prayer in the cave of Hira. Since this night enjoys the honor of having the first revelation brought to the Prophet sallalahu alayhi wasallam, it has been named Laylat al Qadr.

This is one of the holiest and most blessed nights, which is likely to occur on one of the odd nights on the last ten days of Ramadan and most likely to be the 27th. The reward of worship on this night is better than the worship of a thousand months of worship, equivalent to a person's lifetime. So, on this night one should pray Nafil Salaat, recite the Qur’an, do Tasbih, Zikr, Du’a, etc as much as possible.
This night had already opened its gates of treasures when the angel for the first time had come with the Divine Message in the cave of Hira, but its auspiciousness has continued to be with us permanently. Every year in the month of Ramadan, this night is given to the Ummah. Muslims engage in prayers, recitation of Qur’an and praying to Allah[swt], as the Prophet sallalahu alayhi wasallam said: "The person who offered prayers to Allah in the night of Dignity with faith and with hope of reward from Allah[swt], all his past sins have been forgiven." (Sahih al-Bukhaari)

As the rainy season is suitable for farming, similarly for the attainment of nearness to Allah, specific times, specific days and specific nights are most suitable, e.g. the time of Tahajjud prayers, Friday prayers, month of Ramadan, the Day of Arafat, etc. So also the Night of Power is the most suitable night for attaining nearness to Allah[swt].

In the Hadith, we have been asked to seek The Night in the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan. Hazrat Aa'ishah radhiyallahu anhaa narrates that the Messenger of Allah[swt] sallalahu alayhi wasallam has said, 'Seek the night of Dignity in the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan'.(Sahih al-Bukhaari).

By odd nights, the reference is made to the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th night of the month of Ramadan. No one night has been fixed so that the yearning to find it may increase and people may spend more nights in worshipping Allah[swt]. From this aspect, the importance of `Itikaaf (seclusion) during the last ten days of Ramadan, is clear.

Some special prayers and Zikr for Lailat-ul-Qadr:

1. Seeking Forgiveness. Hazrat Aa'ishah radhiyallahu anhaa asked the Prophet sallalahu alayhi wasallam that if she happened to get the night sublime what prayer should she say. The Prophet sallalahu alayhi wasallam replied that she should say the following prayer :
"Allahumma innaka afuwwun kareemun tuhib-bul af-wa fa-afo anni"
(O Allah, You are the One who grants pardon for sins, loves forgiving, so forgive me.)

2. Reciting Astaghfar. The following should be recited as much as possible:
"Astaghfirullah hallazi la-ila-ha illa huwal Hayyul Qayyumo wa atu-bu ilaihe"
(I seek forgiveness from Allah, the Almighty; there is no God but He. He is self-Existent, the Eternal and I return to Him)

3. Reciting Surah `Lailat-ul-Qadr...'
"Inna anzalnahu fee lailatul Qadr, Wa maa adraka maa lailatul Qadr.
Lailatul Qadri khairum min alfi shahr. Tanazzalul malai-katu var-roohu
fee ha bi izni Rabbihim min kulle amr. Salaamun heya hatta matla-il fajr."

4. Do Salaat-ul-Tasbih.
Source: Fiqh-us-Sunnah, vol 2, # 33
‘Ikrimah reports from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Messenger[saw] of Allah said to ‘Abbas ibn ‘Abdal-Mutalib: “O ‘Abbas, O Uncle, shall I not give you, shall I not present to you, shall I not donate to you, shall I not tell you ten things which, if you do, Allah will forgive your first and last sins, past and present sins, intentional and unintentional sins, private and public sins? The ten actions are: pray four rak’at, reciting in every rak’ah al-Fatihah and a surah. And when you finish the Qur’anic recitation of the first rak’ah, say, while standing, ‘Subhanallah, al-hamdulillah, wa la ilaha illallah, wa Allahu Akbar‘ ['Glory be to Allah. All praise is due to Allah. There is no God except Allah. Allah is the greatest.'] fifteen times. Then make ruku’, and while you are in ruku’, say the same ten times; then stand, and say the same ten times. Then go down and make sajdah, and while you’re in sajdah, say the same ten times. Then sit after the sajdah, and say the same ten times. Then make sajdah, and say the same ten times. Then sit after the second sajdah, and say the same another ten times. That is seventy-five [repetitions of the phrases] in each rak’ah. Do that in each of the four rak’at. If you can pray it once a day, do so. If you cannot, then once every Friday. If you cannot do that, then once a year. And if you cannot do that then once in your life.“

This Hadith is related by Abu Dawud, Ibn Majah, Ibn Khuzaimah in his Sahih, and at-Tabarani. About this Hadith al-Mundhiri says: “This Hadith has been related through many chains and from a number of companions. The best of them is this one from ‘Ikrimah. A group of scholars have graded it to be Sahih, including al-Hafez Abu Bakr al-’Ajari, (al-Mundhiri’s teachers), Abu Muhammad ‘Abdurrahim al-Misri, and Abu al-Hassan al-Maqdisi.” Ibn alMubarak says: “The Tasbih prayer is a greatly desired act and it is desirable that one should punctually observe it and never neglect it.

Suggestions:
1. You can pray it any part of the day and night except of course during the forbidden times for performing Salaat. It is encouraged during the potential nights of Laylat al Qadr because of the amazing blessings during that blessed night as stated in the Qur’an itself (Surah Qadr, Chapter 97).

2. Your aim is to recite the above Tasbih 300 times in Four Rakah as stated in the Hadith narrated above, however, please do not count loudly or fingers or by holding beads in your hand.

3. You may count by pressing the fingers as a reminder. For example if you are in Ruku. You may press the first finger of your right hand first for the first count, then the finger next to it for second count, then, the middle finger for third count, following this method until you reach the little finger of your left hand, and that will give you a count of ten. Use the same method during the whole Salaat.

5. Do Afzul Zikr i.e. La ilaha illallah..

Allah Hummagh-firli maa antaa aalamo behi minni fa'ain udtu faa udli bil mughfiraatay...Allah Hummaghfirli maa wa'aito min nafsi walam taajid lahu wafa'a indi...Allah hummaghfirli rama zatil al haade wasahawatil jinaanay wahafawatay lilsaanay. ameen

O Allah forgive my sins of which You are aware and if I repeat it then forgive me again. O Allah! I couldn't get an opportunity to fulfill the covenants done against my evil deeds, forgive these sins too. O Allah forgive the sins done by the action of eyes, mistake of the lips, negligence of the heart and by the movement of the tongue. ameen

There is a Sale on Brains!

One of my former friends used to tell me "Did you check ebay recently? There is a sale on Brains... you should look into it."

Only IF buying a brain could be easy, then you wouldn't have to blame yours. I will say this again and again... When will people start thinking? and No I'm not leaving myself out of this... I have my moments too. But I am seeing this more and more with me on the sidelines. There are a few topics and things that get me, like planning a whole trip and including me, but hey! you forgot to tell me that you told everyone that I made the said plan??? umm are you serious?

I was totally blown away yesterday when a friend texted and asked me if I was going to the Theme Park with them on Wednesday... my response if you haven't figured it out already was "what are you talking about?" and Then when I heard the whole story I wondered if it was conspiracy towards me. But then again, everyone was telling me the truth and that only left one person standing alone. All I have to say to you is, grow up. You are way older than me and way ahead of me. Just grow up. Petty drama isn't going to bring back your teen years! I love you, I do. You are amazing. but Please just understand that you are not 18 anymore. Neither am I, which is why I am not holding onto it.

Good Luck!

Breakthrough

"Breakthrough"
Lemonade Mouth

Oooh yeah, mmmm
Breakthrough

Up, down, spinnin' all around
Fly high, falling to the ground
Sometimes dreams can feel so far away

Time keeps skippin' out a beat
Left, right, trippin' on your feet
Life is like a string of cloudy days

Sometimes it's raisin' your voice
Sometimes it's makin' some noise
Sometimes it's proving to the world it was wrong
Whenever you can't see the light
Whenever there's no end in sight
Keep on, keep on moving on
Keep on moving on

Here comes a breakthrough
Here comes a day
Here comes a moment that you gotta go for it
So don't let it get away
It's all a breakthrough
Just turn the page
Cause everyday I'm getting closer
Life is just a rollercoaster

Shake it, till you make it
Till you breaking on through
Don't stop till you breaking on through
Shake it, till you make it
Till you breaking on through
Don't stop till you breaking on through

Stop, still, take another breath
Road block, move it to the left
Get around whatever's in your way

Heartbreak, pick up all the pieces
Don't stop dancin’ in the bleachers
It's gonna be your turn to play
Gonna be your turn to play

Sometimes it's raisin' your voice
Sometimes it's makin' some noise
Sometimes it's provin’ to the world it was wrong
Whenever you can't see the light
Whenever there's no end in sight
Keep on, keep on movin' on
Keep on movin' on

Here comes a breakthrough
Here comes a day
Here comes a moment that you gotta go for it
So don't let it get away
It's all about a breakthrough
Just turn the page
Cause everyday I'm getting closer
Life is just a rollercoaster

You can see it in the blind sight
Movin’ through the limelight
Groovin’ to the music imma use it when the time's right
Hoping I can do it through the shadows, I can shine bright
Usually in life there's one shot, this is our night
listen To the rhythm we given and it will make you
Start pushin' the barriers and it will take you
wherever it is you wanna go, never too late to
Keep pushing till you breakthrough

Sometimes it's raisin' your voice
Sometimes it's makin' some noise
Sometimes it's provin’ to the world it was wrong
Whenever you can't see the light
Whenever there's no end in sight
Keep on, keep on movin' on
Keep on movin' on

Here comes a breakthrough
Here comes a day
Here comes a moment that you gotta go for it
So don't let it get away
It's all about a breakthrough

Hard Work

I truly believe that hard work pays off. The hours  days that I spent locked up in my room doing homework and writing papers paid off. True, I procrastinated a lot but I put in legit hours and time into my work. and Alhumdulillah I am so glad it worked out so well! Jazakallah

Writer a MOI?

One of my goals in life is to write a book. I haven't written much but I do want to write a book. Maybe just a thing filled with memoirs, and short stories, maybe some poems here and there. OR maybe the next twilight without the supernatural, and little less Nicholas Sparks.

So I'm working on it. Let me know what you think, over HERE!!!

COMMENT ON EVERYTHING please!

Fin de Siecle

FIN DE SIECLE

Kind of sounds like "spin the cycle" right? Well, your close! If you take a look closer it means, "The end of the century." I am kind of hoping that this is french since it was involved in my paper on the French Revolution. I will clear that up sooner or later with an edit but as for now.... Let's just believe its French.

So, I know I am old enough to have lived in two centuries, I know most of you read this have. Those of you who haven't well tough luck? Nope, you didn't miss too much, just those days where we didn't have iPod's, cell phones belonged to Business People, and Nintendo had cartridges... oh and this thing called the Internet was just a crazy dream. Okay, yes, you were left out darn!

So my QUESTION to you is, What was the end of the century to you? What happened during that time that changed things for us today? Was is good, bad, we know those MC Hammer pants don't exist anymore...

I would like to hear what you have to say.

<3 T

PS... I'm not that old, Nintendo had cartridges when I was probably five, then they came out with gameboy color! and My mom had a cell phone that was small enough to fit in my pocket, and my dad had the first picture phone. As for the internet, its way better now.

Heroes

Heroes
Boonaa Muhammed

My heroes never wore tights or appeared on carton channels
They had long beards and kept clothes above the ankles
No combing the streets, like beasts at night looking for thieves
My heroes fought their egos, and narrated ahadith
And some of my heroes were once bag guys too
Baby killers and highway robbers, if you only knew what they knew
Cause you gotta know a lie in order to recognize the truth
And what the point of knowing truth if you can't back it up with proof
And to prove my heroes were united by a single point of view
Why else would they choose to go against what their fathers used to do?
Unless they knew, that paradise was worth being abused
The best of views, if only you could walk a mile in their shoes,
Oh what I wouldn't do to kick it with Abduallah Ibn Musuud,
Listen to him recite the Quran, sad to go into ruku
Yeah that would be cool, but me and Hamza, we would kick it old school
Joke about the Jahilliya, silly things they used to do
If I could pick my own crew, Salman Al Farsi would have to be in it,
An honest seeker of truth, may Allah bless his spirit,
Have Tea with Julilibib, Coffee with Anas Ibn Malik
Anything to pick their brains and gain a better understanding
Could you imagine taking a class with Abduallah Ibn Abbas
A scholar by the age of 10, just a boy amongst the men
And if I had one friend, it would be Abu Baker as Saddique,
Someone to hold you down and to really represent,
When Sumayya held her chin to her killers, did she think?
We would name our little girls after her to teach them strength
And who cares about these rappers, we got Hassan Ibn Thabit,
Dude was sick with the flow, can't believe you didn't know,
That Zaid was a slave who became one of praise
Lived the American dream, when America was Cree
Umar Bin Khattab was G, held it down for this deen
A real superman, made the devils cross the street
And if I ever had beef, I would call up Khalid Bin Walid
He was a ride or die homie, amongst the Salaf as Saliheen,
And if I close my eyes, man, I could almost see
Bilal amongst the cold morning breeze, Allahu Akbar
Cause surely salah is much better than sleep
Like Abu Sufyan after he embraced the deen
On this earth Talha, was a walking shaheed
And Jafar gave his life for our Ummahs victory
May Allah be pleased and grant them all the highest levels of heaven
Like Uthman ibn Affan, who even the angles were shy in front of
Aisha was a genius, ever word was like a thesis
Mother to all believers, pure like that of Isa's
Khadija held the fetus of Fatima, who was the teacher
Of Hassan and Hussein, sons of Ali who were slain
Man you gotta know these names, cause these people paved the way
It's a shame, we know more about them monkeys on BET
This is our history, all the sacrifices that they made for me
Gave to me, a legacy that I could be proud to keep
Said: Be! It was decreed, that at Badr we were only 300 deep
But with the angels on our side, who could even compete?
Although he was a man of peace who preached speech before the sword
He raged a war against error, the worship of fake Lords
Came to restore the deen that Ibrahim laid before
Extreme in his need to feed miskeen and the poor
Yeah, he was hardcore with his face to the floor
Off praying so long that his feet became sore
Uhhhh, yeah he got down like that
And told all the rich they should pay the zakat
And make the salah, and spread the salaam
And declare Ashdu-la-ilah, Ha-il-allah,
Muhammed a rasooul Allah, Sallau alahe wsalaam,
Was the difference between Jannah and Jahennim,
Like the mailman just delivering a message
Who else do you know with a swagger that's blessed?
The best and perfected, corrected the method
Madina state of mind, coming from the hood of Mecca
Champion companions, homeboys were go-getters
Did it bigger and better, had followers before twitter
The leader of leaders, amir to believers
Enjoined all the good and forbade all the evil
My hero taught people that we were all equal
The best of examples outlined what is legal
Forever I'm grateful for all that he came for
May blessings and peace always reach to my mentor
My teacher, my brother, my hero, my prophet
Muhammed, Sallau alahe wsalaam
And that's how it goes, so tell everyone you know
That this party don't stop till the son of Mary come home
I am pleased with my Lord and Islam as my deen,
May we die on these words, Allahuma, ameen

Hope you enjoyed!

Blessed Eyes

Abdullah bin Amr narrated that Rasul Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wasallam) said: “Two eyes will not be touched by Hellfire: An eye that cries from the fear of Allah, and an eye that spent the night in a guard post (in jihad) in the path of Allah.” [Tirmidhi]

This hadith shows the significance of being on the alert for the protection of Muslims.

When there is an Islamic state in which Allah's laws are supreme, not subordinate to man-made laws, then Jihad is Fard Kifayah. This is because if Muslims give up Jihad altogether, the aspirations of the Kuffar to take over Muslim lands are emboldened. This is what has happened since the destruction of the Khilafah. Moreover, the justice of Islam is for all humankind. Others may not be left to suffer under oppressive man-made systems while guidance from Allah (subhana wa ta'ala) is present.

The four fuqaha (jurists), the ulema (scholars), the mufassireen (scholars of tafseer), and the muhaditheen (scholars of hadith), all agree that if Muslim land is occupied by as much as a handspan, Jihad becomes Fard Ayn.

Furthermore, the fuqahaa have stated that if a part of a Muslim land is unable to expel the enemy, either due to lack of resources or laziness or negligence, on the part of the Muslims living there, then the obligation spreads in a circular fashion to those surrounding them [Ibn Abidin, Ibn Nujaym, Ibn al-Humam, al-Kakaani]. This obligation will continue to spread until the obligation of repelling the enemy is fulfilled.

Another condition under which Jihad becomes Fard Ayn is if there is a single Muslim prisoner in the hands of the Kuffar.

Ayatul Kursi

An email from my dad.

Ayatul Kursi

Please forward this to all so that they can benefit
from this message.

It is said that when the angel of death is taking the
rooh (soul) out of the body that passes away , it
is a painful experience. They say that when the dead
awake on Qiyaamah, the effect of the rooh being taken
out will still be felt.

Therefore, ALLAH has told us to recite the Ayatul
Kursi after every Fard salaat and it has been
stated that whoever recites this, their rooh will be
taken out as you would take out a strand of hair from
a pile of flour. How light would that feel,
Ma'shALLAH! May Allah save us from any sort of pain
and may He let us die with Imaan in our hearts and
save us from the azaab.

There is no word as beautiful as Allah, no example as
beautiful as Rasulallah Salallahu - alaihe wasallam,
no lesson as beautiful as Islam , no song as
melodious as Adhan, no charity as meaningful as
Zakaat, no encyclopedia as perfect as Al Quran, no
exercise as perfect as Namaz, no diet as perfect as
fasting and no journey as perfect as Hajj.

Let us realize that Islam is ever beautiful &
perfect.
Please forward this message to as many as you can.

The Scientist

The Scientist
Coldplay

Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry
You don't know how lovely you are

I had to find you
Tell you I need you
Tell you I set you apart

Tell me your secrets
And ask me your questions
Oh, lets go back to the start

Running in circles
Coming up tails
Heads on a science apart.

Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard

Oh, take me back to the start.

I was just guessing
At numbers and figures
Pulling the puzzles apart

Questions of science
Science and progress
Do not speak as loud as my heart

Tell me you love me
Come back and haunt me
Oh, and I rush to the start

Running in circles
Chasing our tails
Coming back as we are

Nobody said it was easy
Oh it's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be so hard

I'm going back to the start
